Can I apply for a work Green Card while in Brazil?

The application starts with the petition and approval of Form I-140 in the United States. After this approval, the process continues through what we call Consular Processing, with the case being processed at a United States Consulate in Brazil.

The consular process for a Green Card application includes the following steps:

• Wait for the USCIS I-140 Form approval letter to be sent;
• Gather all the necessary documentation for the Green Card application. These documents include Form DS-260, Identification Documents, proof of education and professional experience, health certificates, and others;
• Pay the required fees for the Green Card application. These fees include the DS-260 Form processing fee and the Green Card processing fee.
• Wait for the interview to be scheduled at the US Consulate in Brazil. After the interview date and time are confirmed, attend the Consulate at the scheduled time.
• During the interview, the consular officer will ask questions about your qualifications, work experience, education, and other relevant details to determine your eligibility for the Green Card;
• If approved, you will receive a written notification stating that your Green Card application has been accepted and that you should travel to the US to receive your card.
