L-1 Visa for Intercompany Transfers/Branches or Specialized Knowledge

The L visa for temporary work is used by international companies that need to transfer their employees to the US. With this visa, the professional can work in the United States for up to five years in a position of specialized knowledge or for seven years in a managerial position. Their spouse and children can also qualify to accompany them. The Green Card can be applied for in the future through this visa.

One of the greatest advantages of the L visa is that it does not require a labor certification, which can be a lengthy process. This means your employer can bring you to the US more quickly, so you can start working and contributing to the success of your company immediately.

The L visa is available for two types of employees: those who are being transferred to a branch office or subsidiary in the US of their international employer (L-1A) and those with specialized knowledge being transferred to an office or subsidiary in the US (L-1B). The L-1A visa is typically for managers or executives, while the L-1B visa is for employees with specialized knowledge of the company's products, services, or operations.
